UCR Fees 2027: The New Brackets for Trucking Companies
UCR fees for 2027 run from $55 for a trucking company with 0 to 2 vehicles to $54,165 for one with 1,001 or more, as of 14 September 2026. FMCSA's final rule raises every bracket by about 20% from 2026, and the new fees apply from 1 October 2026.

The percentage rise sits between 19.6% for bracket 1 and 21.0% for bracket 2. In dollars the spread is much wider: $9 a year for one or two trucks and $9,329 for a fleet of 1,001 or more.
The top bracket: $54,165 a year
A fleet of 1,001 or more power units pays $54,165 for 2027. At exactly 1,001 trucks that is $54.11 a truck, close to the $55 a one-truck carrier pays. A fleet of 1,000 trucks sits in bracket 5 at $5,548, or $5.55 a truck, so the 1,001st truck adds $48,617 to the bill.
The same step appears at every bracket edge, only smaller. The third truck raises the fee from $55 to $167, the 21st from $333 to $1,163, and the 101st from $1,163 to $5,548. A carrier close to an edge can check which count it reports: the statute allows the most recent MCS-150 figure or the number of vehicles run in the 12 months ending 30 June of the previous year.
Why FMCSA raised the fees
FMCSA Administrator Derek D. Barrs signed the final rule, published on 1 September 2026 as 91 FR 56063. It adopts the UCR Plan Board's recommendation of 18 September 2025. The increase brings in an extra $21.79 million so that collections meet the statutory requirement of $118 million for state entitlements and the plan's administrative costs, and the rule says excess collections from past years have been used up.
FMCSA received 33 comments in scope. The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association called the revenue a slush fund, and FMCSA replied that states have to spend UCR fees on motor carrier safety programs and enforcement. FMCSA also notes that the 2027 fees remain below what carriers paid from 2019 to 2022.
